No day tour from Amman reaches Petra by Night — it starts at 20:30, hours after every one-day product here is back on the Desert Highway home. Book a two- or three-day tour that keeps you in Wadi Musa overnight instead, and check the official programme page for the current schedule before you fix a date.
Petra by Night
Petra by Night runs five nights a week, Sunday to Thursday, from 20:30 to about 22:30: the route from the Visitor Centre to Al-Khazneh lit by candles, with projection mapping and narration added when the show relaunched in May 2025 — it first ran in 1998. It costs 30 JD per person, with children under 10 free.
The show requires a ticket of its own, and it is not covered by a daytime Petra ticket or by the Jordan Pass: you need a daytime entry ticket or a Jordan Pass already in hand before you can buy the Petra by Night ticket on top of it. Most of the web still repeats the old three-night schedule; the authority's own page states five nights, and Petra Amman tickets says the same.
The seasonal hours changeover
Two dated switches a year change what the site's daytime hours are, independent of Petra by Night's own fixed schedule. Summer hours, 06:00–18:00, run from 2 March 2026 to 1 October 2026; winter hours, 06:30–17:00, run from 2 October 2026 to 1 March 2027. Petra by Night's 20:30 start sits well after either closing time, which is exactly why it is ticketed and run separately rather than as an extension of the day.

No official source read for this site publishes a Ramadan or public-holiday schedule change for Petra or for Petra by Night, so none is stated here. If your dates fall during Ramadan or a Jordanian public holiday, check the authority's own hours page directly before booking, rather than assuming the standard schedule above holds.
